- Fast USB3.0 transfer rate of up to 3.7fps
- Include anti-dew and zero-amp glow circuitry
- Anodized body with 106mm diameter and weight of 910 g (32.5 oz)
The ZWO ASI461MM-Pro cooled monochrome astronomy camera is equipped with the Sony IMX461 medium-format CMOS sensor with dimensions of 44mm x 33mm and an area 70% larger than full-frame sensors. The camera features a native 16-bit ADC with 65536 levels, back illuminated structure for high quantum efficiency, very low readout noise, and nearly zero visible fixed-pattern noise. The camera offers premium performance for DSO imaging, wider-field Milky Way imaging, and scientific research.
With a resolution of 100 megapixels (11656 x 8750), this monochrome camera has large 3.76um pixels for a high signal-to-noise ratio and a full-well capacity of 50.3ke. In Bin2 mode, the camera operates with an effective resolution of 25 megapixels with a pixel size of 7.5um and a full-well depth of 198ke.
Zero Amp Glow and Anti-Dew Technology
Traditional CMOS sensors produce weak infrared light (amp glow) during operation which often shows up in the corner of images. The ASI461MM Pro uses zero amp-glow circuitry to virtually eliminate this problem over all operation conditions, even with long exposures and high gain.
As a further advanced feature, the ASI461MM Pro comes with a polyimide heater that sits on top of the protective window at the front of the camera. It gently heats the window to eliminate any dew formation on humid nights. The power consumption of the heater just 5W, and you can turn this function off in your imaging software to save power.
High Quantum Efficiency and Superior High-Gain Performance
The sensor of the ASI461MM-Pro features a quantum efficiency of up to 91% to help minimize exposure times for narrowband and broadband targets.
The ZWO ASI461MM Pro features HCG mode which helps greatly reduce readout noise and preserve a high dynamic range at higher gain. HCG mode kicks in automatically at a gain setting of 100 or more to keep read noise <1.5e.
Integrated Two-Stage TEC Cooling
The TEC cooing system of the ASI461MM Pro can precisely control the temperature of the sensor and lower it to ~30-35 C below ambient temperature. (Note – this performance is tested at 30°C ambient temperature. If the cooling system is working for a long time, especially at more extreme (higher or lower) temperatures, the delta T may be less than 30 C.
Mechanical and Electrical Interface
Like all ZWO ‘Pro’ cameras, the ASI461MM-Pro includes a fast USB3.0 data interface for transfer rates up to 3.7 fps at maximum resolution.
The front of the camera features an M68x1 female thread for direct connection to a telescope focuser or other accessories.
This ZWO camera must be powered from an external 12V DC power source with a minimum of 3 amps in order to run the TEC cooler and connect to your computer. The camera will not operate properly if only the USB3.0 cable is connected to your computer or ASIAir. You can use ZWO’s 12V DC power supply or an external battery. These are not included with the camera.
